Great location and a much smaller hotel in the Capital which made it cozier. The service was excellent and the room was roomy. Parking is across the street in a monitored lot. One complaint was the lack of decent lighting in the room.

Just returned from a wonderful trip home to St Johns again. My husband and I stayed at the Marriott Hotel on Duckworth Street. Again, we enjoyed our stay there. We really like the location, parking lot across the street, nice restaurant and bar, good food and outstanding service. We wanted to recognize Terry who greets the guests so warmly, Monsour, Angela, Angelette and Jessica who took care of us at the restaurant and Gio who I met during our stay..friendly young man who let us know just to ask if we needed anything at all. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality.. there is no place like Newfoundland and the amazing people who live there!

I stayed at this nice little establishment for 4 nights in early June, a solo traveller in a large one bedroom suite, #306. It appears to have been fairly recently refurbished with simple, unfussy designs and good materials. The kitchen has 4 appliances – refrigerator-freezer (large freezer compartment), dishwasher, microwave, and Nespresso coffee machine. It has four sets of cutlery and dishes, and tons of storage space. The living area is spacious, with a small, lounging couch, small round dining table and two chairs, and a desk area. The bathroom is large and bright. There are two closets in the suite. The Queen bed was exquisitely comfortable, and the bed linens were of good quality. There are adequate electrical outlets in all rooms, and USB ports at both bed sides. The bedside tables can also accommodate lots of “stuff“. There are two gargantuan TVs. #306 faces the water and an industrial shipping yard. Not the best view, but could be worse. Drawbacks: there are several. The kitchen has no lighting. It would benefit from an under-cupboard lighting ***** that would shine light on the counter. The bathroom is large enough to have two sinks; it has one only. The shower is large, pristine and attractive, but has no shower wand for rinsing. There are sheers and thicker curtains, but most definitely these are not blackout drapes. At this time of year when it gets light at 5:30 AM, that is a problem. And it is one that could be easily avoided with light-impermeable blinds. Another drawback is the AC. It works, but I found it quite loud, and even when set on low it’s still loud but does not stay on continuously. One could get used to the sound if it didn’t shut on and off intermittently. There is a little unit with drawers that is so low to the ground you have to squat to get into it. I didn’t use it at all, but put my clothes in piles on the ironing board. The biggest drawback of all is the thin walls. I could hear full conversations from the couple next door – who were talking at a normal volume. I could hear not just the sounds of them talking, but each word and laugh. The staff here are absolutely fantastic. A big shout out to housekeeping staff Renee, who is just about the genuinely friendliest, sweetest person. William, Zeis and Nadia were also great to deal with. Front of house manager Teri is an excellent ambassador for the Bonvoy brand and a credit to the Marriott Courtyard. Newfoundlanders are just about the friendliest people on the planet, and the staff at the Courtyard are no exception. They made my visit relaxed, comfortable and pleasant. This is a nicely-refurbished, decent place to stay, but the thin walls are a significant issue and impossible to easily remedy.

This was a great hotel to stay in. The staff was friendly an helpful, my room (716) was spotless and spacious and the and the handwritten welcome note and a treat from the manager was a nice touch. I received the note probably because I'm a Marriott Rewards lifetime platinum member. The location was great. If the bars on George St. are your thing, It's about a 15 minute walk. There are also a bunch of restaurants within 500 meters. Unlike most Courtyards in the US, this one has a full-service restaurant and bar. I didn't try it, but the menu looked good and varied. I used points for my three-day stay and I'm glad I stayed here instead of the Sheraton up the hill an farther away from things that I was going to walk to. There's a decent fitness center as well as spotless guest laundry room. There is hotel-owned parking across the street. I think it was $15 per day.

The beep-beep-beep of the port behind the hotel drove my husband crazy. I loved the view our out to the ocean. The shower is terrific but the bed linens and towels need to be replaced. The staff is very friendly but the hotel does not offer any titanium member benefits.

Came to NFLD instead of the USA to see the icebergs. First time my 80 year old mother had ever been to NFLD. Went downtown to shop… lots of parking everywhere as it was cold, raining and a weekday. Accidentally parked in the courtyard lot which was 1/2 empty. There was a city parking meter in front of us and a no parking sign behind us. I paid for parking at the city meter. The HOTEL called a private company to boot our car. Not only was there a boot on my car, but it was wrapped in pink caution tape and a phone number to call. To add insult to injury couldn’t call the number on my phone …. Don’t know why. Went into the hotel and they had to call the company for me. The hotel ADMITTED that it was very confusing with the city parking meter directly in front of the lot. Waited 45 min for my car to be released. Thanks a lot courtyard!!!!

Good location. You can walk the length of downtown St. John's in about 20 minutes, max. Parking in lot directly across the street. Room was clean and comfortable. Great shower. Front desk staff very friendly, helpful, and welcoming on all shifts. Ditto with the servers in the restaurant. All great.
